One of the major developments of 2022 in the Belgian cyber security strategy has been the launch of a Cyber Command within Defence. This new and fifth component of the army should be operational before the end of 2024. In order to counter cyberattacks, the Belgian legal framework was adapted. This will allow a more forthright response to cyber criminals in future. Minister of Defence Ludivine Dedonder explains why Belgium invests in this cyber capacity and what the ambition is.
